Becoming a Member

Students are selected based on academic achievements. You are eligible after attaining junior status, and the top 1/8 of the Junior class and the top 1/5 of the Senior class are invited to join once per semester. All engineering majors and computer science are allowed to join. After being invited, you must follow a series of procedures before initiation, as outlined below. Then there is an initiation ceremony in which you are officially inducted as a member of Tau Beta Pi.

Initiation Procedure

  • Interview with an Officer [Schedule to be posted]
  • Creativity Projects Presentation [March 19, 20]
    • Due By Initiation:
  • Community service project and writeup
  • Two Recommendations from professors
  • Polish you bent and the university one
  • Pay $75 Lifetime Initiation Fee
